01. What is Metal Curse?

Metal Curse was initially a print magazine that began publication in late 1989, specializing in reviews of Underground Metal of all types, often with hundreds of reviews per issue. The print version was published sporadically over the years, with the 12th and final issue coming out in 1999. Metal Curse has been online at www.MetalCurse.com since then.

03. Will you review my demo/CD/myspace songs/whatever?

Maybe. It used to be our policy that everything sent would be reviewed, but that is no longer the case. If we like or hate something enough to have anything interesting to say about it, then yes it will be reviewed. By not reviewing everything, we are trying to avoid the problem of reviews such as "This is a Death Metal album. It's not bad, but it's not really good, either. It just kind of... is."

04. What about an interview?

One again, maybe. If we have any interest in interviewing you, we'll let you know.

05. Why did you give [whatever] such a shitty review?

It sucked. At least in the opinion of whomever reviewed it.
The reviews are only our opinions about things. Your opinion may be different. That said, we do try, whenever we feel like it, to be factual within our reviews (e.g. "The recording quality is very poor"). Our reviews are intended to be both informative and entertaining, so if we don't like something, we're not going to hold back in discussing it out of any misplaced sense of politeness or so-called political correctness.

06. What do your rating numbers mean?

Imagine the ratings representing a percentage of how much of the thing in question is cool. For example, a rating of "4" indicates that given the style in question, whatever the reviewer assigned that rating to is approximately 40% as cool as the definitive masterpiece. 40% is pretty much a piece of shit, but "7" (70%) might be acceptable, and "9" (90%) is a damn fine piece of work.
Maybe this will make more sense, but just in case, here's the now-ancient run-down of exactly what the ratings mean:
1 to 2 - Utterly pathetic to the point of unintentional humor.
2.25 to 3 - Deepthroats the cocks of lepers - in the bad way.
3.25 to 4 - Total mound of cat diarrhea.
4.25 to 5 - Perhaps an acceptable bit or two, but still suckin'.
5.25 to 6 - Not completely worthless, but not exactly good.
6.25 to 7.25 - Below average, but possessing some worth.
7.5 - An average recording (think of getting 75% on an exam).
7.75 to 8 - Some good elements, but doesn't kick my ass.
8.25 to 9 - Impressive. Packed with coolness.
9.25 to 9.5 - Amazing release. No weaknesses.
9.75 - Innovative, memorable, powerful - in short, awesome.
10 - Flawless. An unequivocal masterpiece, deserving of the highest praise possible.

07. How is Metal Curse related to Cursed Productions?

The print issues of Metal Curse were published by Cursed Productions. Both Metal Curse and Cursed Productions are owned and operated by Ray Miller (also in the band Adversary!).

08. Why do I have to enter a CAPTCHA to leave a comment? I hate CAPTCHAs!

We hate them, too! Unfortunately, we couldn't think of any better way to stop the flood of spam comments. Some reviews were getting dozens of spam comments every day. If anyone has a better suggestion, please let us know.

09. What are the minimum web browser requirements to use this web site?

This website was tested in Internet Explorer 8, Chrome 6.0.472.63, and Firefox 3.6.8, but any modern (circa 2010) web browser, up-to-date with the most current patches should work just fine.
For your own sanity, consider using Firefox or Chrome. IE sucks.
