Aren’t all your favorite bands doing the big “sellout”? What about Flotsam and Jetsam? They put out that nasty When the Storm Comes Down album a while back. They also did two kick-ass albums (Doomsday… and …Disgrace). So now they come back with a new album and yet another bassist: Jason B. Ward. A lot of people are going to cry “sellout” when they hear this, but not me. I like it. I know it’s not as fast or memorable as their first two, but this is still good. Eric A.K.’s voice is better than ever. No sellout.

Wow! This is a completely impressive combination of Industrial and Death Metal. The vocals range from Solitude Aeturnus to Suffocation, all in one song. The drums are especially cool. Raymond Herrera is the fucking drum god. He sounds as precise as a machine. All 17 songs are memorable as well as brutal. Totally great debut from an innovative band. Favorite song: “Leechmaster.”

This band tries to cover a lot of ground musically and vocally, but ends up just sounding lost. Focus, guys. There’s nothing wrong with Thrash at all, I love it, but this is all over the place and goes nowhere.

From the first second, I knew that this was going to be special. The Fifth Season is one of the best demos I’ve ever heard. They aren’t afraid to experiment, and they find only total success. Generally, this is pretty speedy Death Metal, but there is so much more than that going on, it makes it very difficult to say what their sound is, exactly. Newer Pestilence comes to mind, but with some [early!] Atrocity added to boost the brutality. And then there are the really different parts. And the songs are pretty memorable, too. Somebody sign these guys.

Here is a brutal Death Metal band which sounds like a cross between Suffocation and Carcass. They are very gruesome and the songs have sick titles like “Oozing Rectal Feast.” They have two singers, one has a deep voice and the other has a raspy growl. All and all, this is a really groovy demo and I think you should check it out.

The sound on these three songs is something like a Thrashier Scatterbrain, which is okay with me, I guess. Since recording this demo this band changed its name to Mass Exhibit, I don’t know if their sound changed as well.

Heavier production, and better, more original and brutal, songwriting allow this demo to far surpass Wake Up. Even the already excellent vocals are better. This really shows what these guys are capable of, and should get them signed. Very impressive.

Pretty straight forward Death Metal. Not bad, but not exactly great or original. The songs are decent, but I think that perhaps with a little more time to develop, Excruciating Pain can produce better material. I notice a lot of cool elements -enough to make me want to hear more form these guys.

Really fast, pretty heavy Death Metal. Not a lot that’s new going on here, but this is certainly brutal, although by now I’ve heard all these riffs about ten billion times from all the other bands that use them. But I’m being too hard on ET, this is actually a good, if fairly standard, demo.

The Eternal Solstice tracks are all pretty intense Death Metal. Heavy, and yet memorable. Mourning’s songs are likewise raw, and heavy Death, but they also incorporate the occasional horn. Very original touch. Both bands are excellent and this is certainly worth the $19 for the CD (or $14 for the LP). [Imagine a time when vinyl cost less than CD! -Editor]

Fairly complex Thrash, joined with totally wrong vocals. Musically interesting, although things could be more memorable, but the vocals just ruin it for me. Maybe they won’t for you.

Interesting Deathrash sound. Lots of energy and enough originality to say that I’m not really reminded of anyone. That’s good. In fact, almost everything about this band is good. For the most part, the fault is that the songs aren’t easily memorable. But their power makes up for that. And they do grow on you.

Let me start by saying this EP is only 8:12 long. That kinda sucks. I wonder why they didn’t put the two “new” tracks (both old demo tracks, I believe) on Clandestine? Greed, I guess. That’s too bad, because “Dusk” and “Shreds of Flesh” are both fucking great. But I don’t know if they will be worth the $10 (or whatever) to you. They sure as hell were to me. The outrageous price is reflected in the rating.

Fuck! The song “Enigma” by itself would be worth the price for the disc. Excellent production and recording, impressive levels of originality and talent, and, oh yeah, they’re totally brutal. I’m not often as impressed as I was when I first heard this CD. And I continue to be impressed with each listen. The songs are memorable, heavy, fast, slow - everything. It’s all there. This is a classic. Buy or die.

Musically heavier and tighter than [the band’s previous demo] Madman with a Headrush. Also way less derivative of other Thrash acts. This shows a real improvement, and if Dunwich were given a chance to record in a quality studio on a real budget, I’ll bet the results would be impressive indeed.

Still fast for the most part, but heavier and more experimental than before. I still like the longer, slower stuff better, but now there is a bit more of a range. Paul is one of a very small number of people to really understand how and when to use samples. Very impressive. Favorite track: the Doomy, and completely outstanding “Cessation.”

This is a pretty original sound. Heavy, thick mix, but extremely clear. The vocals are mixed sorta low sometimes, but I think it’s intentional, since they sound more like an extra instrument than vocals, really. Drogheda are not afraid to Grind when necessary, but don’t make a habit of it, and slow down to a sorta Doomy level sometimes. Excellent demo.

This four-song EP features Freeway from Immortal Fate on drums, Chris Reifert (Autopsy) on guitars, Josh Barohn (ex-Suffocation) on bass, and some freak named Petri T. on vocals. With this all-star line up I expected nothing less then brutally awesome Death Metal, and that’s what I fuckin’ got. They even have Hannibal “The Cannibal” Lecter do their outro. I got an advance tape of this from Freeway, so I’m not sure when it will be out, but watch for it!

There are so many effects on the vocals that even Joey (ex-Anthrax) Belladonna would probably sound tough if he sang through their rig. The lyrics are atrocious. The super-slow riffs go nowhere. The solos are 100% jerk-off. The drums and bass are neither played nor recorded with any competence whatsoever. Rip out your lungs rather than listen to the Doom Snake Cult. Be prepared to take your own life to save your soul.

This is pretty impressive. Heavy, but very clear production and speedy, brutal, and technical songs. The vocals are excellent. The more I hear this, the more I fucking love it.
