Some might say that Thrash is dead, but Crypta proves them wrong. Of course they also incorporate some Death Metal elements to ensure heaviness. The more I listen to this, the more I like it. The songs are all very memorable, and have enough energy to power a small city. Check this out!

Crucifer have really outdone themselves with this CD. Excellent production and memorable songs make this one of the best Death Metal releases of the year. They have developed a unique sound and distinct style. I’d pick a favorite song, but they all kill.

Clearly superior to their debut on Grindcore. This is heavier and the production has a really “thick” feel. Sort of like a cross between dead horse and a slower, heavier Pantera. All of the songs are fairly short, only three of the ten break the four minute mark, and this makes the whole thing easier to digest. I might like to see some more original elements thrown into the mix, but really this is pretty good.

I certainly wasn’t prepared for this all-out assault. The music is extremely intense. An unreal amount of energy explodes from these songs. I had expected, and would have preferred, more Hardcore-ish vocals, but although he is fairly melodic, John gets the job done. Not bad.

Pavement is really on the fucking ball about licensing stuff for domestic release. This is not exactly ground breaking, but it is somewhat original. They seem to have a good idea about how to mix technical playing with heaviness, and get excellent, and very memorable, results.

This band have since changed their name to My Own Victim (see their album and EP reviews). Basically, what we have here is a sort of Hardcore/Metal crossover, but with a very heavy sound, and groove-intensive riffs. The vocals are yelled, and the lyrics seem pretty pissed off. Sounds cool to me.

It’s been awhile since I’ve heard from these guys. Remember them? They wrote the classic “6669.” Anyway, this Satano-Thrash fest starts really well, and as long as Paul sings it stays pretty intense. However, when Jay takes over the vocal chores, everything seems to suffer. If they would let Paul sing all the time and always have the intensity they achieve on “Satanic As Hell,” this would be unstoppable. As is, it’s still okay, and a lot of the lyrics are at least funny.

This album sees Coroner beginning to incorporate occasional Industrial elements into their music. It seems a little odd at first, but after a few listens I decided that it really adds to the music quite a bit. So the experimentation continues, and while perhaps not as heavy as earlier albums, this could be their best effort so far.

Woah, this is weird. In the good way, I guess. The music is more of a background to the vocals, or more accurately the lyrics, than anything else. This is more of an experience than an album. But it’s an experience I like. I think I’d like to check out his other stuff.

The best thing about this album is the cover, which depicts a pretty girl with some spiders around her. Why do derivative shit bands like this get signed when excellent, and original, bands like Snap Judgment don’t?

Still as heavy as always, but mostly faster this time. The intensity also is increased. This sounds pretty fucking brutal, and the outstanding production only helps. I believe they changed their name [they did, to Funereal] and singed to Olympic [that turned out to be a rumor - Cryonics Records released Funereal’s only album, The Misery Season in 2000 -Editor] , so get this while you still can.

The vocal duties have been passed down to Martin Van Drunen (formerly of Pestilence, then Asphyx), and his style continues, for the most part, to become less raw with this album. Musically, like the last LP, this is somewhat technical Death Metal. The lyrics are also similar to the first album. Good, but still not a masterpiece.

The production is good, and the music is brutal Death Metal. Vocals are really raw. Hey the songs are even kinda memorable, and very well played. Even the lyrics are pretty cool. I’d keep my eye on these guys.

If you liked all the earlier Dice stuff, then you’ll like this too. If not, then this certainly won’t change your mind.

This album was made with “no guitar amps,” but I’ll tell you what, there are a ton of guitar riffs on here. I’m not sure why, since some guys played bass and drums, they didn’t just have a guy play the guitar parts, too. Well, anyway, on top of a bunch of guitar (somehow made without guitars), drums and bass (some kinda Industrial-Thrash, I guess) is a guy rapping. I’ll admit to not exactly being an authority on Rap, but I really think that the reason why guys like Ice Cube are popular is that their raps sound natural, not forced and completely pre-thought-out, like they are here. This might be a good concept, but I think the execution needs some serious work.

Everything here could use a little work (example: The repetition in the lyrics could be removed). This is okay Deathrash, but I hear better all the time. The cover of Cheech & Chong’s “Earache My Eye” is pretty funny.

Hey, this is really good. I wasn’t sure what to expect from Chemlab, but what I found was an Industrial band in much the same vein as Ministry. Sometimes a little too weird, but mostly right on target.

The first 15 seconds of this album scared the shit out of me. The remaining 55 minutes beat the shit out of me. The title says it all. Buy this.

This stays on the faster side of Death, the vocals are a hellpowered chainsaw, and yet somehow it’s incredibly memorable. That must have a lot to do with the fact that this is one of the best produced extreme Death Metal records I’ve ever heard. I want my band to record wherever these guys did. This is monstrously awesome. I can’t recommend this enough.

Cool intro. Very good, and thick, production. Wow, are those vocals?!? Fuck, that’s sick! Low-end vomited distortion, and the occasional high shriek. Extremely brutal Death Metal. This will kill you.
