Well, these two songs were taken from the band’s Our Forgotten Destiny demo which came out in 1991. I liked them then and I like them now, but would have much rather heard some new material, as these tracks were recorded over five years ago. As far as the music goes, imagine Death’s Leprosy album, but perhaps a bit more experimental.

Ranging from Doom to Grind, these drum machine powered Deathsters don’t seem to always be hitting the mark. They are something of an experimental band, I suppose, and some of their ideas are dead cert, but some are in outer space. At least they are trying to be sort of original.

One of the songs here is called “Shitty Song.” I had really high hopes for that one, but its really no shittier than the rest of this crap. Wimpy, Psudo-Alternative that uses guitars only because no one in the band can program a synth. Poppy. Happy. Light. Boring, or possibly just terrible.

I will admit to not knowing much about Techno, but I’m fairly sure that this isn’t what good Techno sounds like. The beats are adequate, I suppose, however this is mostly slower than I envisioned. More Pop Dance than the Alternative sort. Or maybe just Alternative of a different kind. I’m not really sure, but I am sure that I don’t like it.

It’s a strange thing to say, but I’ve never heard a band from Lithuania that I didn’t like. Dissonance play a unique brand of atmospheric Doom, and I believe that what sounds like keyboards is, in fact, an actual viola. Now, to me, that’s pretty cool. If you like your Doom on the Death side of things, then get to writin’.

The long intro sounds like a horror movie soundtrack, which is, I suspect, exactly what they wanted. Beyond that, there is some very interesting Doom. The arrangements are somewhat complex, and the drumming can be excellent at times. The haunting voices are sometimes replaced with Deathly growls. Very heavy and atmospheric. Each time I listen to this, I like it more.

This is more straight-ahead Death Metal than I was expecting from it being on Cyber, but after a few listens, I detected the subtleties I’d missed the first time around. This needs a couple listens, but one notices a little more each time. That’s always a good idea.

This album will finally put away all Entombed comparisons. There is no contest anymore: Dismember has won. Although not always up to the intensity of the Pieces EP, this shows a larger range of styles - all still very much Death Metal, just not all the same. Stunning. Favorite songs: “Reborn in Blasphemy” and “Dreaming in Red.”

Hmm, this EP is different than the import [European] version. It doesn’t have the cool crucifixion scene on the back cover, but it does have an additional track, “Torn Apart.” If that song sounds familiar, it is. Remember Carnage? One of these five tracks (+ intro), “Soon to be Dead” is from Dismember’s debut LP, and is still my favorite. The rest, especially “Pieces” and “I Wish You Hell,” totally fucking kill. And it’s only about seven bucks for the disc. Cool tunes. Cool cover (but what happened to the back cover?). Cool price. By the way, these freaks are brutal Swedish Death Metal, in case you were born dead (lucky you!) and didn’t know.

As all his old bands wondered what they were going to do without him, James Murphy sat at the foot of Mephistopheles’ iron throne and the two plotted to unleash world Death domination upon the masses in the shape of Disincarnate. Evil, majestic, a classic of elaborate Death Metal, akin to post-Altars Morbid Angel, but even more complex. Some geeks bitch that Murphy just dumps his excess guitar spew here, but his precise runs fit the tunes much better than the tired old tremolo dives. How could he ditch this for Te$tament?

I guess a Punk/Death Metal crossover [aka Crust!] is fully underway, and this band is certainly part of it. This has all the energy, speed, and structure of Punk, but with Deathlike vocals. Although a terribly short album (just under a half-hour), in all other ways, this is excellent.

From slow, Doomy, Ambient passages to Blast spasms: This lone album encompasses nearly the entire spectrum of Death. At least musically. The lyrics are always great, which is not the case with all extreme music. Anyone reading this would almost have to like this album, I know I do.

This is heavier and better written than any previous release from this band. Also more experimental, and maybe more memorable, too. Very nice job, guys.

Yeah, I know I’m behind with this review. It’s not the only one. Anyway, these guys are heavier than ever, and have decided that no song under 5 minutes and fifty seconds shall sully this demo. The longest of the four, “Lords of Creation,” clocks in at 8:10, and is never anything less than enthralling. This needs repeated listens to really get all of what is going on.

28:59 is pretty short for an album. Oh, wait, there are 15 tracks on this. Holy shit! Dischange is a Crust band, so the length is explained. And what’s this? They recorded at Sunlight?! Fuck yeah. Other bands try to bridge the gap between Hardcore and Death, but as far as I’m concerned Dischange is one of a very few to do it successfully. This is a unique sound and band, which incorporates the energy of ‘Core with the heavy, thick sound of Death Metal. Stunning.

If only I liked the vocals, which sound like Antti is gargling syrup, this would be supreme. Musically it just kills. Very diverse, but with virtually no loss of memorability. Also pretty heavy, and the production is certainly a big plus. If you could get past the vox, this would be unstoppable, but I can’t.

Well, their lyrics make these guys out to be really tough, too bad the music and vocals do not support that. They have a couple good riffs, amid all the traditional Thrash chunks from aeons gone by. I think their best bet would be work on the riffs, and either go instrumental, or work on the lyrics twice as much as the riffs.

I’ve seen this band live a couple times, and I wasn’t too impressed. I guess they must have been having bad nights, because this is considerably better than their live show. It does, however, have a few faults. The music is perhaps a bit too repetitive, and this detracts from what is occasionally an excellent Death Metal album. With a little more time, DT could really do something great, but they’re not there quite yet.

I don’t care what anyone says. I think that releasing both Amon demos like this is cool. I like hearing the different versions of these songs. Sure, everything off the Sacrificial demo sounds like the a lot like the album versions, but the differences are there. And the Feasting the Beast tracks sound extremely different. This is a must for any Deicide fan, and I like it as much as the two albums, if not more.

Eerie keyboards haunt these songs and draw the listener into the complexity of the music. Vocally, this could be a bit too screechy for some, however I find that the vox fit seamlessly into this Deathrash onslaught. Everything is used precisely to cause an effect that when combined create an intricate whole. Strangely, no brutality is lost to this, and the songs manage to be memorable as well. Clearly experimental, and clearly an experiment that has succeeded.
