Hellwitch - Anthropophagi

Posted on Sunday, April 15, 2012

It had been a while since I’d heard any new material from Pat and his team, which now consists of only Joel Suarez on drums. Yep, Pat does all the rest. But, is this up to the technical level of previous work? Of course. Still heavy, still fast, still insane, and still uniquely Hellwitch. Excellent production and H.R. Giger cover art push this over the top, into the realms of legendary demos.

IR8 - IR8

Posted on Wednesday, April 11, 2012

Do you give a damn what Jason Newsted has been doing in the 200 years since Metallica’s last studio album? I don’t, but here it is anyway: IR8. I guess that Jason has been hanging out with Rob Halford, since these 3 songs sound like out-takes from Fight, with perhaps the worst elements of Forced Entry thrown in for the hell of it. How many times must Mr. Newsted screech “I am colossus” before I lose my mind? I think he says it about 10,000 times in a row. This is just stupid.

Meat Shits / Necrophiliacs - split 7-inch

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

A mere nine songs for the mighty Meat Shits, which show a more clear sound, but still retain their classic samples and Blast speed. Necrophiliacs deliver 3 live songs of German Hardcore, sometimes approaching the style of E.N.T., but are not exactly inspirational.

Meat Shits - Homosexual Slaughter

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

More samples, more Noisy Death/Grind blasts, but somewhat refined into “only” 14 compositions this time. The tempo is more varied with this 7-inch EP, and there is more variety in the music.

Meat Shits - Bowel Rot

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

134 pornographic Grind/Noise spasms crammed onto two 7-inchs. I reviewed this once before, but in it’s demo form (click here for that review). The sound has been improved and, of course, it’s on vinyl for the first time now. Somehow, Meat Shits and the 7-inch format seem to just go together.

Malicious Onslaught - Brutal Gore

Posted on Tuesday, July 12, 2011

This was a difficult review to write, as these guys incorporate little bits of every extreme style into their sound. That makes them a very unique band, and as such, an impossible band to describe in a few words. Suffice to say that those looking for insane Black Death Grind Metal shall look no further! Extremely chaotic and heavy.

Malicious Hate - Consumed by Hate

Posted on Saturday, July 09, 2011

Duke and company Grind the fuck out of this piece of vinyl. Here are five tracks of heavy, brutal Death/Grind, and believe me, these freaks know how to do it right and make you remember it. Duke’s voice is as memorable as the riffs - and as heavy. Certainly one of the top five bands of this kind. If all that’s not enough, also know that this 7-inch EP is on sick pink vinyl.

Malevolent Creation - Live EP

Posted on Saturday, July 09, 2011

Roadrunner are obviously insane for dropping this great band, they should have kept them and pressed this on CD [somebody should!]. The recording level on this EP is sorta low, but that’s not the end of the world, and at least it’s not muddy, just not real loud. Anyway, here we have live versions of some of MC’s best tracks, including my favorite, “Premature Burial.” They’ve even included their studio version of Slayer’s “Piece by Piece.” What are you waiting for?

Infester - To the Depths, in Degradation

Posted on Tuesday, July 05, 2011

Vocals brutal enough that a lyric sheet is useless (at least when trying to follow the songs), actually it’s even a brutal font on the lyric sheet: Old English. As you’ll guess, the style is insane Death Metal from the depths of depravity and Hell itself. So that pretty much means that it’s a great album.
