Anacrusis - Screams and Whispers
If this had come out in the mid- or late-’80s, it really might have been impressive, but it all sounds a little obsolete now. On the other hand, Screams and Whispers does show Anacrusis to have a flair for melodic and progressive composition, and the twin guitars are mixed into separate channels for maximum headphone freakout appeal. Lyrically, they explore the usual contemporary progressive terrain of perception and paradox (cf. Rush, Dream Theater) without adding anything new. An extra-long track or an instrumental might have made this sound less ordinary.

First I’d like to say that I never obtained a copy of Songs of Sorrow. Nor did I ever get the privledge to hear the final product. I parted ways with Larry Sapp and the band shortly before the release for personal reasons. I am still friends with Demian Heftel but I have not spoken with Tony Laureano in years. Like you, I preferred the “L.S.D” demo and sound. I did hear a couple of tracks from “S.O.S” and I agree that although a very good production, the sound lacked the mighty sound that was once Astaroth. Anyway, my influences have always been the thick, heavy and raw “Swedish” style and sound. For those that care, I played a Charvel/Jackson bass through an Ampeg SVT. And I loved bands like Dismember/Carnage, Entombed, Edge of Sanity, etc… Keep em’ tuned down and stay heavy \”/

I’ve sometimes found Goatwhore albums to have one or two songs I enjoy…the problem is figuring out where they are, since the entire album is one big riff salad start to finish. If they could figure out how to make an actual SONG—with a start, a middle, and an end, and an overarching theme or mood to tie them together (and “metal” doesn’t count)—they have the potential to be pretty good. Unfortunately, they fall into the same trap so many metal acts nowadays do: they confuse quantity with quality, and outward heaviness with internal vision.

Mystery solved!
Thank you, el baroni.
I have learned, over the years, to not believe anything in a press release, and this is a good example why.By admin on Tuesday, April 17, 2012

No.
Sam did not ‘play’ or ‘sing’ on No Sanctuary.she provided the pig like scream at the beginning of the track Battery Humans.Amebix has had a few colourful characters over the years, but she was not amongst them.By el baroni on Tuesday, April 17, 2012

I’m sorry to say that I’ve seen Goatwhore live when they were on tour with Venom a few years ago, and… holy shit, Goatwhore is even worse live. Just totally worthless! Jack is actually being very nice to them in this review.
I also don’t understand why a difference of opinion has to immediately jump to accusations of dick sucking and sandy vaginas, but I guess that’s just where Martin’s mind goes first…By Koji Kabuto on Monday, April 16, 2012
